Kris Draper’s son is demanding and awesome when it’s his birthday

Whenever Kris Draper’s offspring make it into a hockey
story, it’s never for a pedestrian reason. Which is to say that his daughter
once pooped
inside the Stanley Cup.

Next Saturday, his son Kienan turns nine. In celebration, he
and a group of friends attended yesterday’s game between dad’s Detroit Red
Wings
and the Boston Bruins

Now,
normally you’d expect a son to ask his soon-to-be-40-year-old father to have a
good game, don’t embarrass him, maybe pick up a point during the contest to give
the party something to celebrate.

Not Kienan. He wanted a goal. And Draper delivered. From
the Detroit Free Press:

"That was pretty cool," Draper said. "He wasn’t asking for a
goal, he was more or less telling me to get a goal. I think you could tell by
the smile on my face I was pretty pumped when it went in."

Draper, who got showered with ice chips courtesy of Henrik
Zetterberg
while talking to reporters after the game, scored midway through the
second period when he picked up Patrick Eaves’ centering pass and lifted a
forehand high behind Tim Thomas.

The
Red Wings won, 4-2,
with Draper getting the game-winner, sweeping two
straight from the Bruins. Pretty cool moment for Draper, who had five goals in 27 games heading into the contest:

As for Kienan … well, it’s OK to be envious of a kid whose
birthday gifts include his father scoring a game-winning goal on national
television in his honor and who
has eaten Fruit Loops out of the Stanley Cup.
Granted, it was the same Cup
his sister defecated into, but we’ll assume they clean the thing on the
regular, considering it’s also appeared at a
Kid Rock beach party.
