Showdown: Dustin Johnson vs. Tim Clark at Pebble

So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into these
early season tournaments, and because we’re both inveterate gamblers who
are one bad card from being out on the streets, Shane Bacon and I are
playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one
golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight
up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament
gets three points. And when we burn a golfer, he’s done for the year.
Follow with us as we place bets on the hallowed fairways of Pebble Beach …

Bacon: If you haven’t noticed, we dropped the first word of our "suicide
showdown" because the way I pick players made me consider the former.
But gosh darnit, Dustin Johnson is going to win this week. He has to win! I’m picking him! Don’t let me down, Dustin!!!! You can break this horrible run I’m on!!

Busbee: This is what the kids call "pwnage." But I feel pretty good that you can break the streak with your DJ pick. Not good enough to burn Mickelson just yet, though. So I’ll stick with Tim Clark and hope that Timmy Shortgame will outplay Dusty Longball. ("Dusty Longball" sounds like a … nah, let’s not take that any farther.) Anyway, I only have one thing to say to Mr. Johnson: *cough*U.S. Open*cough*.

Last Week: Busbee’s pick Nick Watney rode his characteristic birdie charge to a -15 finish to tie for 5th at the Waste Management Open. Bacon’s pick Jhonattan Vegas rode his momentum straight into the ground, shooting 70-70 to miss the cut. Cue the sad trombone.

Overall record: Busbee 5, Bacon 0.

Already used: Busbee: Ernie Els, Steve Stricker, Chad Campbell, Bill Haas, Nick Watney. Bacon: Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Marino, Ben Crane, Jhonattan Vegas.
