Sampdoria replaces Di Carlo with Cavasin (AP)

Sampdoria has fired Domenico Di Carlo and hired Alberto Cavasin as its new coach as a result of the club’s sharp demise following the transfers of forwards Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini. The coaching change was announced Monday, a day after a 3-2 loss at home to Cesena that left Sampdoria only three points clear of the relegation zone.
